Underfoot is a perception-shifting XR sensory audio installation that invites participants to imagine what it is to live amongst the soil. This technologically driven interactive art piece is an ever evolving entanglement of roots, mycorrhizae and technology - designed to inspire and educate so people might connect with an essential but often overlooked part of our ecosystem.

Bailes+Light director Benji Bailes has provided creative technical consultation since it’s inception in 2020. Initially created as a single person exhibit, development work is taking place to re-imagine Underfoot as a collaborative multi-person experience where participants might discover that human connection is more than the sum of its parts.
