Shangri-La is a legendary area of Glastonbury Festival - home to boundary-pushing art and music. In 2025, it introduced a new theme: The Wilding, which celebrates themes of nature, community, and re-wilding. As part of this, a new venue called LORE was launched, a more intimate space inspired by folklore, magic, and the natural world. Bailes+Light were brought in to help bring Lore to life: not just as a stage, but as an immersive venue. Designed for established acts better suited to the atmosphere of a tent, LORE needed something more than a traditional lighting rig. Working with Shangri-La Creative Director Kaye Dunnings, we created a series of large, animated chandeliers that floated in the space made from concentric rings with exposed LEDs and dressed in natural materials sourced from around the Glastonbury site. Individually controllable from the lighting desk, the chandeliers became living elements within the venue, allowing flowing animations to move across the venue, and programmable in tandem with the lighting rig. They bridged the gap between structure and story, fully immersing the crowd and turning Lore into a space that felt intimate and alive.
